Attorneys Alexander Henderson, III, Thomas W. Bergen, Brandon S. Harter and Phillip J. Caramenico, and paralegal Amy Kauffman, all formally from Hartman, Underhill & Brubaker, have joined Nikolaus & Hohenadel, LLP effective November 1, 2015. Lancaster, PA (October 2015) -Nikolaus & Hohenadel, LLP a full-service general practice law firm announces the addition of four lawyers and one paralegal, enhancing its legal service and professional reputation in South Central Pennsylvania. All five hires come to Nikolaus & Hohenadel as Hartman Underhill & Brubaker (HUB) winds down its firm. The changes are effective November 1, 2015."The closure of Hartman Underhill & Brubaker created an immediate opportunity for Nikolaus and Hohenadel to strengthen our firm and expand upon the service we provide our clients," Jack Hohenadel, Partner and member of the management committee said. "We have been very intentional in our growth in the area of business law; adding the expertise of these five individuals will have a great impact on the firm's goals moving into 2016."
Alex Henderson, partner at HUB who will join Nikolaus & Hohenadel as a partner, brings extensive experience in business counseling and complex business negotiations, resolution of disputes within companies and municipal law. Henderson holds a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College and a law degree from New York University School of Law. He resides in Lancaster Township.

Thomas W. Bergen, a senior partner at HUB, who will join Nikolaus & Hohenadel as a partner, specializes in taxation, business and succession planning including formation, mergers and acquisitions and entity terminations, as well as estate planning and tax-exempt organizations. Bergen holds a bachelor's degree from Lehigh University, a law degree from Dickinson School of Law and a master of laws degree from Temple University. He resides in Lancaster Township.

Brandon S. Harter, an associate with HUB, specializes in cost-effective litigation in the Federal and Pennsylvania courts, with a particular emphasis on e-discovery solutions tailored to the nature of each dispute. His practice also includes the drafting of technology licensing and service agreements and general business counseling. Harter earned his bachelor's degree from Dickinson College and his law degree from William & Mary Law School. He resides in Mountville.

Phillip Caramenico, an associate with HUB concentrates his practice on issues of taxation, with an emphasis on municipal finance, estate and business planning and general business counseling. He earned his bachelor's and law degrees from Villanova University, as well as a master of laws degree in taxation from that same institution. He resides in Lancaster.
Amy Kauffman, a paralegal for HUB provides valuable service in estate planning and administration and brings experience in the area of civil litigation. A member of the Lancaster Area Paralegal Association and the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations, Kauffman is a graduate of Solanco High School and the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center. She resides in Lancaster.

Bernadette Hohenadel and Rob Cronin presented a PBA program regarding the 227th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution to the students of Bainbridge Elementary School in the Elizabethtown Area School District.

Wanda S. Whare was elected Vice President of Sudan Rebirth Ministry, a non-profit corporation that provides scholarships to children of South Sudan.

Joseph G. Muzic, Jr. was named a PA Super Lawyer in the category of personal injury defense litigation. PA Super Lawyers is a rating service of lawyers in various practice areas who have attained recognition by their peers through nominations and evaluations. The list appears in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh magazines.

Matthew J. Creme Jr. has been appointed Chair of the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The panel assists the Court in identifying and recommending persons who are qualified for appointment to the position of Federal Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania .

Jeffrey A. Mills and Mandy Lloyd Heinz were both certified as specialists in the practice of Workers' Compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Section on Workers' Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. In March 2013, Mr. Mills and Mrs. Heinz sat for the very first Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Certification Examination. The examination was four hours long and covered a wide range of topics within the field. Mr. Mills and Mrs. Heinz recently received confirmation that they both successfully passed the examination. The certifications as Workers' Compensation Specialists are for five years commencing on May 1, 2013.

Matthew J. Creme, Jr. was appointed by the President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) to serve as the PBA's appointee to serve on a task force of Local Government Commission of the Pennsylvania General assembly that will complete a comprehensive review of Act 47 of 1987, the Municipal Financial Recovery Act. The task force also is comprised of representatives from muncipal associations, research organizations, business interests, higher education, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. January 8, 2013

Bernadette M. Hohenadel, was appointed to serve a two year term on the Board of the Coalition for Smart Growth, an organization focused on providing education and advocacy on issues pertaining to smart growth and growth management in Lancaster County. The Coalition Board is comprised of representatives from the building and development industry, municipalities, preservation organizations, agricultural community, and affordable housing providers, as well as financial and business leaders in the community.

Donald H. Nikolaus, Esquire was honored for Outstanding Professional Achievement by Lancaster Catholic High School at its annual Alumni Citation Awards Ceremony on April 21, 2012. Established in 2003 as part of the school's 75th Anniversary celebration, the Alumni Citation awards program pays tribute to the remarkable men and women, who, throughout history, have distinguished themselves and brought honor to their Alma Mater.
